Social Groups


All Groups start on Monday June 11th and go until August 16th

Optimal D.A.I.S.
(Developmental Achievement through Interaction and Socialization)

Our Daytime Groups uniquely offer,

 

-Small group sizes, 4-6 children

-1:2 or 1:3 adult to children ratio

-Occupational therapist, Art Therapist or Floortime Specialist facilitating the groups

-Intensive oversight by the directors

-Specialized facilities, including seven motor/sensory and play rooms

Koala Program (ages 2 to 3 years old)
The Koala program will meet four days a week (no Fridays) from 10:00 to 12:30. This program will work on sensory regulation, communication, and social skills.

Parrot Program (ages 4 to 5 years old)

The Parrot program will meet four days (no Fridays) a week from 9:30 to 12:30. This program will work on sensory regulation, communication, and social skills, and will have a stronger emphasis on social development.

Alligator Program (ages 5 to 6 years old)

The Alligator program will meet four days (no Fridays) a week from 1:30 to 4:30. This program will primarily work on sensory regulation, communication, and social skills, and will have a stronger emphasis on social development, creative play, and conflict resolution (including sharing, taking turns, compromising, and negotiating).

Dolphin Program (ages 6 and up)
The Dolphin program will meet four days (no Fridays) a week from 1:30 to 4:30. This program is designed for children who are working on sensory regulation, shared attention and communication. It will compliment and integrate with part day school programs and home school programs.

Kangaroo Program (ages 8 and up)

The Kangaroo program will meet four times (no Fridays) a week from 1:30 to 4:30. This program will work on social development and higher levels of logical and abstract thinking. It will compliment and integrate with part day school programs and home school programs.

Late Afternoon Summer Social Programs
There will be groups meeting late afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00. Different groups meet on different days of the week. The day your group meets depends on your child’s age and developmental profile.

Goals

 

The primary goals of our programs will be to improve emotional development, social skills and sensory regulation. This will include skills in communicating, cooperation, sharing and enjoying social relationships with peers and groups of children, and reading and responding to social and emotional signals. The program will work on strengthening your child’s processing abilities; including motor planning and sequencing, visual-spatial processing, auditory processing and language, and sensory modulation.

 

 

Ages in groups are approximate; children will also be placed according to developmental ability.

Late Afternoon Summer Social Programs

   There will be groups meeting late afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00. Different groups meet on different days of the week. The day your group meets depends on your child’s age and developmental profile.

The primary goals of the afternoon social programs will be to improve social and emotional development using the DIR/Floortime Model. This will include strengthening skills in reading and responding to emotional cues, communication, cooperation, sharing, and enjoying relationships with peers. These groups are for children 6 and up.If we don't have a group that fits your child we can design a group for them.
